About Me

Hi, my name is Jason! I am a software engineer with an educational background in economics that is fascinated with finding innovative and creative solutions to real-world problems. I worked as a tax accountant post graduation. Although it may seem like there is no connection between accounting and software engineering, I believe the similarities in solving problems quantitatively has provided me a smooth transition into software development. I am a graduate of App Academy's full stack software engineering curriculum, which helped me become proficient in a number of coding languages and frameworks. Outside of work, I enjoy immersing myself in the virtual world, walking my dog, Dodo, and hanging out with friends. Video games are something I have always been passionate about and now with the amazing growth seen in the e-sports industry, I cannot wait to see what is in the store for gaming and would definitely love to work in this industry as a software engineer and see my impact on something I love to do.

Mealtime

Mealtime is an restaurant-only-themed Yelp clone that allows users to look up popular restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. Users can review, rate, and search for restaurants within the site, creating an immersive and social feel that promotes ongoing user engagement. Finally, users can edit and delete their own reviews, achieving a robust CRUD functionality across several key features. It was built with a Rails backend and a React/Redux frontend.

Arium

Arium is a health promoting app that keeps track of your daily water consumption, furthers universal access to clean water, and provides an engaging user experience. Arium's primary goal is to promote the healthy consumption of water by not only our users but also by people all across the world. When a user consumes a glass of water and records it in their log, we will donate an equivalent amount of water to a person living in poverty and in need of clean water. Similar to a bonsai or aquarium our app creates a digital world for our users to take care of through their water recording actions. We hope that the world they are nourshing reminds them of both their own bodies and the people around the world they are helping.

THIS IS META

THIS IS META is a data visualizer directly in the browser that allows an user to scroll and enjoy the graphics. It includes various features and functionality, such as the ability to toggle between visualizations of different weapons using the side navigation bar, a dropdown telling users which attachments to use, and to be able to hover over the bars in the graph to see the detailed statistics of each weapon. The overall functionality and design is complemented by crisp, minimal styling choices that are easy on the eyes while also being clear and engaging to the user.
